RUMOR: Xbox One hacked for Homebrew?

Hackers are claiming that theyíve found an exploit on the Xbox One that will allow homebrew on the console. A chat log that comes from the EFnet lobby #xbonehack has Xboner's claiming next-gen victory


Old-time sceners have been chatting recently, and they saying its basically GAME OVER for Microsoft, the Xbox One, is now owned by 'hackers' and this currently unreleased exploit allows to get all keys out of 'silicon die', and the only way out is for Microsoft to roll-out new hardware to block their access.

"Let's just say it's already done," according to one poster in the chatroom. Claiming that he's got "great news for Xbox One hacking."

"We will see examples within the following months... right now is the discovery phase, development must be done," reads the log which can be found on Paste Bin. "Think of the most radical situation that could have possibly happened. The thing that would most hurt the security. That's what happened."

The post alludes that the keys needed to sign files for the Xbox One have been discovered, and that to stop the exploit, Microsoft would need to roll out new hardware to combat it.

"Xbox One full homebrew will likely be a reality in a short time," the conversation concludes.

While the post offered very little proof when it comes to the bold claims that were made, there's no doubt a large community of modders and hackers that are looking for a homebrew solution on the Xbox One. If true, homebrew won't be the only thing we'll be seeing on the Xbox One in the near future. The ability to run unsigned code on the console would likely lead to piracy on the Xbox One.

Piracy is a problem that Microsoft has been combating on their consoles for years. Modified disc drives on the Xbox 360 allowed players to play pirated games on the console, which Microsoft fought through numerous updates and storage changes. Console mods like JTAG wrought havoc in multiplayer games, like Call of Duty, which allowed cheaters to host modified lobbies and other unsanctioned activities on Xbox Live.

XB1 Sales Surpass 5 Million Globally

Microsoft was happy to announce that their Xbox One next-gen console, is now pass the 5 million mark, and that their new Titanfall game was the #1 selling game in March, helping them to sell more XB1s


No good news this morning from the front line fighters on the Empire side, as it seems the Rebels are winning in the Console Wars.

Microsoft says it has sold more than 5 million Xbox One consoles to retailers since launch, according to an update from Yusuf Mehdi, Xbox corporate vice president of marketing, strategy and business.

Citing NPD Data, Microsoft said it sold an estimated 311,000 Xbox One consoles in March. During the same month, Titanfall for Xbox One was the number one selling game in the United States, according to NPD estimates, though sales figures for Respawn Entertainment's first-person shooter were not provided.

Xbox One's latest sales milestone follows an announcement from chief competitor Sony, who says it has sold more than 7 million PlayStation 4 consoles since launching in November 2013.

A key distinction between the two sales numbers is that PS4 sales are reported as sold-through, or purchased by consumers, while Xbox One sales are reported as sold-in, or sold to retailers.

Despite trailing PS4 by some 2 million units, Mehdi said global Xbox One sales are "outpacing Xbox 360 by more than 60 percent at the same point in time."

Well lets see how the next few months turn out, wild rumors is there just might be price war coming next by the time E3 rolls around, and don't forgot the underdog that launched a year early into this new battleground, they have started to squeeze in on both sides!

Trio charged with hacking, stealing from Microsoft

We reported before on SuperDAE story and his Xbox One devkit raids, but now the fallout from that has moved from Australia to state-side, with FBI rounding up three hackers, one of them from Canada


You might remember the SuperDAE stories from over a year ago, with him listing early Xbox One dev-kits up for sale on eBay, and then later him getting arrested, and threatening to release info which never happen, but now the FBI have rounded up some more 'hackers' that were trading in Xbox One devkits, and passing info among themselves.

One of people arrested in New Jersey is better known on many 'scene' forum sites like XboxHacker as 'SonicISO' and was originally the Admin behind the very popular E3-Forums for E3 Flasher and their ODE device before it was suddenly shutdown earlier this year.

A New Jersey man, a Wisconsin teen and a man from Canada are facing more than a dozen charges for allegedly breaking into computer systems and stealing sensitive information belonging to the U.S. Army and other companies, including Microsoft.

Obtained and partially published Thursday by The Smoking Gun, the indictment - still sealed, but filed in U.S. District Court in Delaware - charges Sanadodeh Nesheiwat, 28, from New Jersey; Nathan Leroux, 19, from Wisconsin, and Canadian resident David Pokora.

The men are alleged, beginning in 2011, to have begun a roughly two-year cyber crusade against video game companies, during which time they identified and exploited vulnerabilities in computer systems belonging to Microsoft, Valve Corporation, Activision Blizzard, Zombie Studios, and Epic Games, according to a report.

The Microsoft breach enabled the alleged attackers to steal information on the then unreleased Xbox One, according to published pages of the indictment, which explain that the perpetrators were able to use that data to build counterfeit versions of the console, including one that was sold on eBay for $5,000.

Intrusions into the computer systems of companies such as Epic Games and Activision Blizzard allowed the attackers to steal early copies of "Gears of War 3" and "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3," two blockbuster titles that had yet to be released at the time, according to the report.

Also, Apache helicopter pilot simulation software designed for the U.S. Army was stolen from Zombie Studios, a company commissioned by the American military organization to develop the chopper training program, the report added.

The men are facing 15 felony charges, including multiple counts of wire fraud, three counts of unauthorized computer access, two counts of copyright infringement, and one count each of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, conspiracy to commit theft of trade secrets, conspiracy to commit mail fraud, attempted mail fraud, conspiracy to commit identity theft, and aggravated identity theft.

The indictment was returned by a grand jury in July and Nesheiwat and Leroux were arrested at their respective homes last week, according to the report, which adds that the status of Pokora was undetermined at the time.

Microsoft invites you to attend the Atari E.T. landfill excavation on April 26

We're all invited to the Atari E.T. landfill excavation later this month. 'Become a part of gamer history', Microsoft says...


Microsoft is inviting the public to attend the Atari Landfill excavation where a team will search for buried E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial video game, rumored to be buried in New Mexico.

The day-long excavation will take place on April 26, and spectators will be able watch as the "truth" comes out. This endeavor is being funded in part by Microsoft's Xbox Entertainment Studios as part of its new documentaries initiative, that will air first on Xbox consoles.

We’re excited to announce that the excavation of the long-rumored “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” video game burial site will occur on April 26, 2014 and will be open to the public. Spectators are invited to watch the team uncover the infamous Atari game cartridge grave.

The Atari Corporation – faced with overwhelmingly negative response to the “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” video game – allegedly disposed of millions of unsold game cartridges by burying them in the small town of Alamogordo, New Mexico in 1983. Fuel Entertainment took an interest in the legend, and in December 2013, with help from local garbage contractor Joe Lewandowski, acquired the exclusive rights to excavate the Alamogordo landfill. Microsoft shares new details on Xbox One April update

New Xbox One features are coming this month: the console can now reboot itself after system updates, users will be able to play 50Hz Blu-ray discs, and direct YouTube uploads.


First, here is the trio of new Xbox One features that will pop-up in its upcoming April update (members currently beta testing the update will soon receive them):

We’re still working on our next Xbox One system update and have been receiving some really great feedback from members with early access. Tonight, I wanted to let you know we’re pushing a few more features to the members previewing new system updates that you may be hearing about. Here are a few details on those features.
  • Blu-ray player supports 50 Hz video output for content recorded at 50 Hz. We’ll also be updating the Blu-ray Player app in the coming days to round out these improvements.
  • Controller and headset adaptor firmware updates will reduce audio static and improve wireless connectivity.
  • Silent reboot after system updates and system update on demand now available. After this update, if your console is in Instant On mode, the update will happen automatically and return to standby upon completion. This means you won’t need to power on your console after an update moving forward. If you want to take future updates when available without waiting for your console to do it on its own, we’ve added this option under system settings. It will only show as available when there is an update to take.

We’re committed to delivering innovation through system updates, and on behalf of the Xbox team, I can’t say enough how integral fan feedback is to this process. Some features previewed won’t always make it to launch right away because we want to help ensure the best experience for our fans before pushing a new feature.

Dash Launch 3.12 Released

This version also includes some additions and bug fixes.



  • default behaviour of live block is now to use strong block rules (at least until ini is loaded)
  • fix compatibility issues with dashes created before AP25 was deployed (spoof the AP functions on older versions)
  • limit fakelive/autofake to 14717+ kernels
  • add export so plugins can find out where they were loaded from during dllMain() (it's volatile, copy it in Main() if you need it!)
  • update 16547 patches to delay network bringup in xam until launch.xex loads
  • add trinity internal usb to hddkeepalive (for those that have a usb hdd hooked up there)
  • add 16747

Known Issues:

One of the testers observed a console reaching out to live despite liveblock only when fakelive or autofake was enabled. If you intend a keyvault to not get banned, do not use it on a glitch/jtag machine!

  • Autologin pop-up blob does not display properly... live with it.
Currently the project is missing the following supported translations:
  • Japanese, Korean, Chinese Simplified, Chinese traditional
Currently supplied translations:
  • English, French, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, German, Italian, Polish
The skin pack includes the sources used to skin dash launch as well as the string files if anyone wishes to create a translation to one of the above languages (including English, as I know my explanations are not always easy to understand.) Also included is a c# based editor for the string files to assist in translation.

External fonts, background image and skins may be used by this, simply place skin.xzp and/or font.ttf and/or background.png (1020x720) beside default.xex. If neither location has a font file supplied the system font on flash will be used.

  • It will launch a XeX or CON file from the path you specified in launch.ini as long as it's valid
  • Depending on the button you hold when the xbox is trying to load the NXE, it will divert to the xex/con tied to that button or return to default as defined in launch.ini
  • At boot time it is possible to subvert default item and/or NXE loading, but you must wait until the controller syncs to do so
  • Depending which button is held when closing miniblade in NXE (use Y button to close, release then hold a QL button) it will quick launch a CON or XEX from your ini file allows one to patch kernel/xam at bootup with a freeBOOT patch style bin file from usb or hdd (in that order) must be in root of the device and be named "kxam.patch" and be no larger than 0x4000 bytes.
  • Again, kxam.patch binary format is the same as a compiled freeboot patch bin, but uses real virtual addresses rather than offsets - as of 2.22 the first 32bit value must instead be the version of the kernel the patches apply to - with the included patch set,
  • launch.xex acts as a helper to detect when xbox1 emulator loads, allowing memory unlock patch and xbox1 emulator to function together

xeBuild 1.12 Released

xeBuild is a command line system image builder for JTAG, glitch, and clean images.


Change Log

  • check FCRT.bin signature with PIRS_pub.bin or MAST_pub.bin if available (selection based on content)
  • check DAEP signed signatures in DAE.bin (usually 2) with PIRS_pub.bin if available
  • check CRLP signed CRL.bin signatures with PIRS_pub.bin if available
  • fix mobile extraction stalling process on corrupt NAND
  • do not patch boot reasons into flash header for devkit and retail builds, only glitch and jtag
  • added patch to kernel to attempt to block network until launch.xex has loaded (if available)
  • add -o smcnocheck to image build options/ini; avoids fatal build error if smc is unknown
  • add 16747
  • fixed: was not automatically creating all the folders for 16747 avatar data to be valid

How To Use:

  • See individual folders for lists of files to provide
  • If desired provide replacement cpu and 1bl keys in text files
  • open a command window in the xeBuild directory
  • on the command line type, for example:
example - if you provided keys in appropriate text files
xeBuild.exe -t glitch -c falcon -d myfalcon myfalconout.bin

-t glitch = build a glitch type image
-c falcon = use falcon bl and patch set
-d myfalcon = a folder is present called "myfalcon" with per machine files, this uses it myfalconout.bin = the file that will be produced
  • type 'xeBuild.exe -?', 'xebuild client -?' or 'xebuild update -?' for command line info

Update and Client modes:

Both modes require the supported updsvr running on the xbox, full functionality may require updating console patches with the included hv patches. Both the PC and the xbox need to be on the same subnet/LAN router.

Client mode is a simple way to read, write and patch flash as well as few other simple commands such as the patch updater. The patch updater will look in the folders beside the exe for {version#}\bin\patches_{type}.bin which are full patches for whichever console and hack type, it will load and strip the patches if needed and send them to the console. Note that only xebuild images are truly supported for this.

Most of the client mode commands should be available on any console, even unhacked devkits. See output from 'xebuild client -?' for more information on the options available.

Update mode attempts to retain as much data about the console as possible, without having to provide any info on the command line aside from optional/addon patches if required. After you copy the $SystemUpdate folder into (in this example) the folder 16203 it is capable of taking a simple command line like:

  • xebuild update -f 16203 -a nohdmiwait

It will fetch all the info from the console, and use the updater to update both the system flash and avatar data on the console (provided you have an 360 formatted HDD internally in the console.)

It has some more advanced options to allow one to build the update image as well as dump the data from the console as it's acquired, while even leaving the console data untouched. See output from 'xebuild update -?' for more information on the options available.

Neither update or client image writes are able to affect bad blocks, but are able to write new ones.

If this happens mistakenly, an erase block command has been provided in client that will attempt to clear the bad block - use with caution though, blocks get marked as bad for good reasons and is a normal occurrence on NAND when a block becomes unreliable.

With big block machines, the server will attempt to retain any NAND mu data in the system area, provided there is no system data to write in the image being sent. It's not foolproof, but update mode should not corrupt NAND mu.


  • take original console dump, put it in mytrinity folder as NANDdump.bin
  • set CPU key and 1BL key in ini file, verify LDV from NANDdump.bin matches console fuses
  • if not set cfldv in ini file
  • build (xeBuild.exe -t glitch -d mytrinity -f 13599), flash and hopefully life is good

.ini files:

Just a word on the format... the ini parser is not very robust, the files need to be plain ASCII, everything after a ; on a line is ignored, and spaces are not acceptable (they get removed).

Things like CPU key and 1BL key, if present in the per box ini file need not be placed anywhere else.

Optional Patches:

Various optional patches are included for use with the -a option, they are:

  • nofcrt - removes fcrt.bin requirement on some drives
  • nohdd - disables detection of internal SATA HDD
  • nohdmiwait - HDMI consoles will no longer wait or EXX screen when video is not ready
  • nolan - disables wired LAN to prevent E75/76/77 on machines with a damaged PHY
  • nointmu - disables jasper NANDmu, trinity 4G internal USB and corona 4G MMC memory units


Changing the patches to the BL that follows the BL that is executing during glitch attempts has a direct effect on whether a machine will glitch. The provided patches are generic and work well on most machines, but this per machine build addon can now be supplied without modifying the base patches to CBB or CD via a file in the perbuild folder, they will simply be tacked onto the end of CBB or CD, and the BL size adjusted to include this new data in the hash.

Keep in mind, it can take multiple attempts and re-flashing with different binary data to find something that will boot at all, let alone be more effective for your console.

blmod is currently not supported by update mode.



Using an incorrect controller config can result in problems remapping bad blocks (even manually.)

If you have a 16M jasper, an additional build type has been added 'jaspersb', by default the image will be built for jasper with big block controller (config 00023010), use this alternate switch to build for small block controller (config 01198010.)

Multi build/options example:

When you specify -f 13599 on the command line:

  • 13599\filelist.ini is parsed instead of data\filelist.ini

Also the bin directory is used from 13599\bin\ instead of bin\ allowing anyone to create multiple builds without multiple instances or rebuilds/hex edits/hacks of the main app.

The example provided is the last version of 13599 patch set from dash launch and
other files to build freeboot 13599

example use:

xeBuild -f 13599 -d myfalcon x13599out.bin

  • -f 13599 : use .\13599\filelist.ini, and .\13599\ for firmware files, .\13599\bin\ for patches
  • -d myfalcon : use .\myfalcon for per build files (cpu key, keyvault, security files, ini etc.)
  • x13599out.bin: override auto generated name and produce .\x13599out.bin as the final NAND image

Note: if -d ***** is not specified it will still use the original /data and /bin dirs

Devkit image building:

This feature is currently considered Beta/Work In Progress.

A new image target type was added, "-t devkit" which builds 64M flash images for devkits. Currently untested, building with a 00 filled CPU key will create a zeropaired devkit image that may allow one to boot a software bricked devkit that one does not know the CPU key for and recover it to an operational state. By powering on the console with such an image present, with a recovery DVD in the drive, the recovery software should be able to create a new keyvault, re-pair the DVD drive to the new keyvault, and allow normal operation once complete.

Normal devkit image building when one does know their CPU key and thus has security files and keyvault should work as expected.

Building devkit for glitch/jtag is also possible using the standard -t glitch/jtag methods. Sample ini have been provided with this release, but will not work unless patches and files are supplied. Note that devkit is not our focus, but was relatively easy and straight forward option to supply for those that wish to make use of it.


Those who use large block NAND are now able to nearly double the size of the system file area with this option with no apparent ill effects. Normally this option wouldn't be needed, but if one wanted to experiment with more files in flash, or one was building a devkit image for a devkit with a big block flash, this option is required.

'Xenia' - Xbox 360 emulator shows some progress

Ben Vanik has released a video for Xenia, showcasing his emulator running a commercial game for the first time.


A few weeks ago, we informed you about 'Project Xenia', a WIP Xbox 360 emulator for PC.

Well, this week the emu author, Ben Vanik, released a video showcasing Frogger 2 -released on Xbox Live Arcade in 2008- running on it... although very slow.

This is the first game to run in the emulator. It's currently using my debug interpreter so it's extremely slow for now. Minor graphical glitches (missing text, some screen clearing issues), but otherwise works. Riveting, I know, but ya gotta start somewhere :)

Quick answers:
  • Yes, it's real.
  • Yes, it'll get faster.
  • No, [game X] doesn't run yet. This is the only game that does.
  • No, you can't have an executable. If anyone claims to have one for download it is likely a virus.

Microsoft will soon penalize Xbox One players for bad behavior

It looks like naughty Xbox Live users will be punished with Twitch cut-off and reduced matchmaking.


That's right, gamers who have a "negative impact" on the Xbox Live community will soon be handed penalties like reduced matchmaking pairings, and might even have access to Twitch revoked, Microsoft has announced.

Notifications for the Xbox One reputation system will start appearing this month, and there will be three types of reputation levels: “Good”, “Needs Work”, and “Avoid Me”.

Leveling Up Your Reputation: Notifications Coming Soon

Last July, I gave you a preview of what to expect with reputation on Xbox One. Gaming has always been a social activity, and for Xbox One we redesigned the Xbox Live community-powered reputation system from Xbox 360 to help better inform players about their behavior in the community.

On Xbox One, there are currently categories of player reputation score – "Green = Good Player," being the large majority of our users, "Yellow = Needs Work" and "Red = Avoid Me." By looking at someone’s Gamercard you’re able to quickly see their reputation. The more hours you play fairly online without being reported as abusive by other players, the better your reputation will be. The algorithm looks to identify players that are repeatedly disruptive across the community on Xbox Live. The vast majority of players do not regularly receive feedback from other players and, thus, will stay at the “Good Player” reputation level.

Here’s what the reputation levels mean for you:
  • “Good Players” – The majority of gamers will fall into this level. As we’ve said before, we have plans to introduce rewards for good behavior and look forward to sharing more in the future!
  • Warnings for “Needs Work” – Beginning this month, some players will start receiving reputation warnings as their reputations drop due to feedback from the community. The purpose of these communications is to remind players about their effect on the community and encourage them to have more positive interactions. These warnings are based on community feedback collected since Xbox One launched.
  • Penalties for “Avoid Me” – If players do not heed warnings and continue to have a negative impact on other players and the Xbox Live community, they will begin to experience penalties. For example, people with an “Avoid Me” rating will have reduced matchmaking pairings and may be unable to use certain privileges such as Twitch broadcasting.
Remember, we designed the algorithm so it won’t penalize you for bad reports over a few weeks of play. The system also adjusts for false reports from people that might intentionally report someone of greater skill or for other griefing purposes.

Xbox owners are deserting Microsoft consoles for the PS4

According to a survey by DealNews, one of the key factors to Sonyís success with the PS4 has been converting the 'swing gamers'...


According to this survey of 1,727 readers by DealNews, Sony's PlayStation 4 is outselling Microsoft's Xbox One because of the “swing gamers”, or Xbox owners who have decided to ditch the Microsoft brand for PlayStation this generation.

Shocked? Here's the report and the survey results:

Although the Xbox One had been selling well out of the gates, it recently came to light that the PlayStation 4 has charged ahead; in fact, in January Sony moved twice as many units of its latest-generation console than Microsoft did. For some, this may come as a surprise, since the Xbox 360 was generally considered to be the dominant console in the many years before these new consoles came about.

So why is the PS4 outselling the Xbox One? We surveyed 1,727 of our readers and discovered that the answer is a complex mix of price, specs, and brand loyalty.

Xbox 360 Users Remain Brand Loyal, But Can't Afford to Pay Retail

Frequently with advanced software-driven technology, consumers will feel inclined to remain within the environment that they're familiar and comfortable with. This is why so many people struggle with the jump from iPhone to Android, for example, or vice versa. It follows then that these next-generation video game console purchases might be influenced by what shoppers owned previously in terms of gaming.

Not surprisingly, 42% of Xbox 360 owners (that is, users who owned only an Xbox 360) opted for the Xbox One, while 51% of PlayStation 3 owners veered towards the PS4. The number one reason cited for why these shoppers purchased what they did? Brand loyalty (at 32% for Xbox 360 owners and 30% for PS3 owners).

Despite this expected result, there were notably a higher number of former Xbox 360 users who didn't purchase any new console yet, claiming that the price was too high and that they were waiting for a deal. (In fact, double the number of Xbox 360 users who didn't buy a new console cited price as an issue, compared to PS3 users who also didn't buy one.) It would seem then that PlayStation devotees are more financially prepared to jump into the next generation of gaming because of the lower retail price, whereas Xboxers are patiently waiting for a more affordable opportunity.

The PS4 Has Won Over 'Swing Gamers'

Interestingly, 44% of the 1,700+ respondents in our survey noted that they owned both the PS3 and Xbox 360. This is likely because those consoles have been around for so long and prices have dropped tantalizingly low in recent years. As such, this would suggest that almost half of console gamers are familiar with both platforms. And while they might still prefer one over the other, the competitor was not foreign to them, likely making it easier to "jump ship" if there was a good enough reason to do so.

Thus, we looked at how these "dual owners" behaved in the face of next-generation gaming, and as it turns out, a higher percentage opted for the PS4 vs the Xbox One. (35% vs. 23%; see the results above.) The number one reason for their selection? Specifications, perhaps latching onto the assertion that the PS4 has a better graphic output. Moreover, a slightly higher percentage of former Xbox 360 users made the switch to PS4 than the reverse; 8% of PS3 owners bought an Xbox One, while 14% of Xbox 360 users bought a PS4.

The Xbox One Is a Best Bet for Holdouts Who Want a Discount

The primary reason people had for not buying either of the consoles was price; either the cost was too high, or users claimed to be waiting for a deal. Luckily for these gamers, our research on the price history of the PS3 and Xbox 360 shows that these consoles began to see discounts after four to five months. That would mean that the next-gen systems would see discounts of about 10% beginning in March.

Of course, the situation is different this time around; when the Xbox 360 and PS3 debuted, there was no deal on either platform for several months. Thus far, we've already seen a handful of discounts on the Xbox One, dropping the console to as low as $475 (or 5% off).

Conversely, there have been no deals on the PS4 console alone. Given the fact that the PS4 is outselling the Xbox One, this is perhaps not surprising. And, coupled with the news that Microsoft has already lowered the price of the Xbox One in the UK (slashing £30 off, or about $49.87), further discounts in March or April seem all the more likely. That said, Microsoft would have to cut a full 20% off in order to even match Sony's low MSRP.

While diehard gamers will likely buy whichever console appeals to them at retail price, our survey suggests that Microsoft could draw more of its own budget-conscious fans into the next generation if it dropped the retail price on its latest console. But given the fact that a high number of gamers are familiar with both platforms, Sony may continue to win over those swing gamers with better specs and a lower retail price.

Xbox One controller now works on PC

An unofficial solution to get the new Xbox One controller working on your PC


So, while we are waiting for Microsoft to support the Xbox One controller on PC (they promised it was coming at some point in 2014), we can try this workaround that Lucas Assis has developed with some software/drivers. This in conjunction with another program will allow you to use the controller on Windows (Mac and Linux versions are on their way).

Warning again, this was developed on under a day, I'm releasing due to a high number of people asking for it. It works, and it works great, but it's not really that easy to install (involves installing another 2 programs, both which are open-source and adware free).

I recommend XPadder for setting up the gamepad to keys, or x360ce for XInput games (but I WON'T give support for x360ce, DON'T EVEN ask me about it. I inserted a little about it on this video, but x360ce is actually the most buggy app I have ever tinkered with. I don't want this problem in my life xD).

Linux and Mac users: probably will have a version soon.

PS.: Non-English speaker, been a few months without speaking. Sorry for hiccups ;)

Team-Xecuter announces XODE for Xbox 360

Team-Xecuter has announced a new ODE alternative that supports both Phat and Slim with both 2.5 and 3.5 HDD footprints.


In case you missed it, Team-Xecuter is back with another new upcoming product for the Xbox 360.

XODE is an ODE alternative for the console, and supports both Phat and Slim models. But, this one is different to other products: it's a complete replacement for the DVD drive that has everything you need built in.

Final Burn Legends v1.12.4 Beta is now available

The new WIP version of Final Burn Legends for Xbox has been released, featuring support for more games.


Final Burn Legends by destronger, is a port of Final Burn Alpha 2.99.07 to the Xbox. It also includes parts of FBA-XXX Pro 1.29 and supports over 2700 games.

MS inviting Xbox One users to test out the March Update

The new Xbox One beta program will let some console owners to test future system updates.


It looks like Microsoft is inviting select Xbox One users to participate in a preview of the March system update.

Invites are rolling out now, so check your e-mail. Here's the official announcement:

The team is working hard to deliver some exciting updates in March that will make Xbox One even better. But in order to ensure our customers have the best experience on Xbox One and Xbox Live, we need the help of our passionate community.

Beginning today, Xbox is inviting select Xbox Live members to preview new features coming to Xbox One in a March system update and future system updates as they become available, asking them to provide valuable feedback before the updates are implemented worldwide. Selected participants will receive an Xbox Live message with a token to register. The next system update will begin rolling out next week to those who will preview the new features. Once registered, participants will be able to test the early features included in the update and provide feedback on a private forum and can opt out of future waves.

Like Marc Whitten announced last week, the updates coming in March will significantly improve the multiplayer and party experiences on Xbox One. We’re counting on our fans to share their input as we’re putting the final touches on the new features that we plan to deliver in early March.

Xbox One Media Remote shown

Leaked some days ago, the Xbox One Media Remote has been officially announced.


Microsoft has just announced officially the Xbox One Media Remote with a price of $24.99 in the US.

According to Eurogamer:

"The remote lets you control video playback for Blu-ray movies and streaming video on Xbox One. The motion-activated backlit buttons illuminate as soon as you pick it up "allowing it to be used in the darkest of rooms while playing games, watching TV shows, movies and more", Microsoft said. It's out in early March.

It also includes dedicated Back and OneGuide buttons. The OneGuide button lets you access TV shows and movies through the Xbox program guide.

You can also use the media remote to control your TV/receiver power and volume through Kinect."

China selling FAKE CronusMAX devices

ControllerMAX (formerly CronusMAX) warns about some China dealers trying to sell fake CronusMAX devices.


According to the guys over at ControllerMAX (formerly CronusMAX), some Chinese dealers are trying to sell old Cronus Device stock and passing them off as CronusMAX.

Apparently, these have been badly repaired by hand, so you are now WARNED. Don't get those!

Here's the info:

BE WARNED! There are China dealers trying to sell old Cronus Device stock and passing them off as CronusMAX. We received various samples and most seemed to have been repaired by hand and the work was terrible with dry joints and bridge solder on the IC (see picture). Half of them wouldn't even work without some soldering repairs or replacement of components.

All the serial numbers showed up as none CM and none of them will work with Gtuner or any of the GamePacks and none of them can be programmed to any new firmware or new features. Make sure you buy from a genuine retailer listed at controllermax.com/retailers

If you have already bought one of these expecting for everything to work correctly then you have two options. Return it to whomever you bought it from for a refund or you can pay the ControllerMAX Upgrade fee of $29.99 available at our store.

Forbes: 'Microsoft should give Xbox to Nintendo'

According to Forbes contributor Adam Hartung, while calling Xbox One a failure may be premature, 'Microsoft investors have plenty to worry about'...


Just a few days after we posted the 'Motley Fool' article titled 'Xbox One looks like a total failure', here goes another 'doom' one, this time by American business giant Forbes.

In this one, site contributor Adam Hartung, says that Microsoft should just give up on Xbox and Kinect and "handle them" over to Nintendo.

"While calling XBox One a failure may be premature, Microsoft investors have plenty to worry about", the article says. Here is it:

Microsoft has a new CEO. And a new Chairman. The new CEO says the company needs to focus on core markets. And analysts are making the same cry.

Amidst this organizational change, XBox continues its long history of losing money – as much as $2 billion per year. And early 2014 results show that XBox One is selling at only half the rate of Sony’s Playstation 4, with cumulative XBox One sales at under 70% of PS4, leading Motley Fool to call XBox One a “total failure.”

While calling XBox One a failure may be premature, Microsoft investors have plenty to worry about.

Firstly, the console game business has not been a profitable market for anyone for quite a while.

The old leader, Nintendo, watched sales crash in 2013, first quarter 2014 estimates reduced by 67% and the CEO now projecting the company will be unprofitable for the year. Nintendo stock declined by 2/3 between 2010 and 2012, then after some recovery in 2013 lost 17% on the January day of its disappointing sales expectation. Not a great market indicator.

The new sales leader is Sony, but that should give no one reason to cheer. Sony lost money for 4 straight years (2008-2012), and was barely able to squeek out a 2013 profit only because it took a massive $4.6B 2012 loss which cleared the way to show something slightly better than break-even. Now S&P has downgraded Sony’s debt to near junk status. While PS4 sales are better than XBox One, in the fast shifting world of gaming this is no lock on future sales as game developers constantly jockey dollars between platforms.

Whether Sony will make money on PS4 in 2014 is far from proven. Especially since it sells for $100/unit (20%) less than XBox One – which compresses margins. What investors (and customers) can expect is an ongoing price war between Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft to attract sales. A competition which historically has left all competitors with losses – even when they win the market share war.

Will game console sales decline like PC sales?

On top of profit worries is the threat that console market growth may stagnate as gamers migrate toward games on mobile devices. How this will affect sales is unknown. But given what happened to PC sales it’s not hard to imagine the market for consoles to become smaller each year, dominated by dedicated game players, while the majority of casual game players move to their convenient always-on device.

Due to its limited product range, Nintendo is in a “fight to the death” to win in gaming. Sony is now selling its PC business, and lacks strong offerings in most consumer products markets (like TVs) while facing extremely tough competition from Samsung and LG. Sony, likewise, cannot afford to abandon the Playstation business, and will be forced to engage in this profit killing battle to attract developers and end-use customers.

When businesses fall into profit-killing price wars the big winner is the one who figures out how to exit first.

Back in the 1970s when IBM created domination in mainframes the CEO of GE realized it was a profit bloodbath to fight for sales against IBM, Sperry Rand and RCA. Thinking fast he made a deal to sell the GE mainframe business to RCA so the latter could strengthen its campaign as an IBM alternative, and in one step he stopped investing in a money-loser while strengthening the balance sheet in alternative markets like locomotives and jet engines – which went on to high profits.

With calls to focus, Microsoft is now abandoning XP. It is working to force customers to upgrade to either Windows 7 or Windows 8. As PC sales continue declining, Microsoft faces an epic battle to shore up its position in cloud services and maintain its enterprise customers against competitors like Amazon.

After a decade in gaming, where it has never made money, now is the time for Microsoft to recognize it does not know how to profit from its technology – regardless how good. Microsoft could cleve off Kinect for use in its cloud services, and give its installed XBox base (and developer community) to Nintendo where the company could focus on lower cost machines and maintain its fight with Sony.

Analysts that love focus would cheer. They would cheer the benefit to Nintendo, and the additional “focus” to Microsoft. Microsoft would stop investing in the unprofitable game console market, and use resources in markets more likely to generate high returns. And, with some sharp investment bankers, Microsoft could also probably keep a piece of the business (in Nintendo stock) that it could sell at a future date if the “suicide” console business ever turns into something profitable.

Sometimes smart leadership is knowing when to “cut and run.”

Surreal64 CE is a continuation of the Surreal64 project where Team XXX left off. Originally developed by oDD and Lantus, Surreal64 included ports of three Win32 based Nintendo64 emulators including 1964, Project64 and UltraHLE.

Our goal is to improve Nintendo64 emulation on the XBOX with the addition of: - New or updated N64 emulators.

  • - New or updated video, audio and RSP plugins.
  • - Improved controls.
  • - A user friendly and skinnable GUI.

This is package is an unofficial patch containing some experimental work that took place after B5.5's release.


  • Trigonometric analog sensitivity. 2 new analog sensitivity settings exist. "Increasing" uses a tangent wave to make the analog stick more responsive as it moves away from its center position. This could compensate for the stiffness of the XBox's control stick and make it "feel" better. "Decreasing" uses a sine wave to gradually decrease sensitivity as the control stick approaches the outer edge.
  • Rice 6.12 Software Vertex Clipper. This fix utilizes the Software Vertex Clipper used in Rice Video 5.60. Several games no longer crash and newer ucodes can be utilized. Diddy Kong Racing, F-Zero X and Perfect Dark are among the most notably fixed games. Keep in mind this uses software and will result in a CPU hit.


Simply overwrite your .xbe's with those bundled in this package.
